Rock Karma Promotions Presents: Santacore 2014 @ Simon’s 677 12/12/2014

Rock Karma Promotions kicked off their annual 2 show holiday throwdown at Simon’s 677 in Providence, RI on Friday 12/12 with the bash known as Santacore. The lineup for the night was My Missing Half, The River Neva, & Murdoc along with newcomers Fortune Favors The Brave & Blood Of Odin.

The festivities were opened up by My Missing Half, a Boston based melodic death metal band. The last time we saw them in 2011 they only had three songs and I’m pretty sure the only remaining member is vocalist/ guitarist Bijan Hennessey. This time around they sounded great and have really seemed to have solidified as a band.

Next up was one of our favorite western MA bands, The River Neva. Led by the man of many bands, Trey Holton, TRN set the bar for performances of the night pretty high.

Fortune Favors The Brave is a new band out of Providence featuring current and former members of Solanum, Murdoc & Tommy Coma. FFTB is fronted by Tanner Guimond of Solanum fame, who has quickly become one of the premier vocalists and front men on the local metal scene. These guys are heavy and relentless and while they may not be every metalheads cup of tea, they certainly know how to get the crowd going.

Our pals in Murdoc debuted a few new tunes in their set that are just as heavy and spinecrushing as anything they have released to date. Word is that they are working on a full length album for sometime in 2015. We look forward to that as much as anything coming out next year. Kudos to drummer Dylan Robertson for pulling back to back duty in both his bands, FFTB & Murdoc.

Closing out the night was another new band, Blood of Odin from Smithfield, RI. BoO is fronted by Chris Gifford (Meat Cleaver) of Dragged Under fame. It’s great to see him back out front doing his thing again. After some initial growing pains, Blood of Odin is now set to destroy the local scene. This band is definitely on our recommended list for 2015.

Overall the night was a success, but we had to scurry home and get some rest in preparation for night #2, Metal Xmas @ KC’s tap.

Ray Rocka’s Metal Nights invade Blaze’s Billiards! 7/16/2011

Ray Rocka’s Metal Nights invade Blaze’s Billiards! 7/16/2011

Ray Rocka of All For Blood took his “Metal Nights” show to Blaze’s Billiards in West Warwick, RI for the first time on July 16th. The bands on the bill were, My Missing Half (Lowell MA.), Zombie Fighter (Keene NH) and All For Blood. A couple other local bands were scheduled but due to unforseen issues had to cancel. This really put a dent in attendance but that was more than made up for by the enthusiasm of those who were there.

My Missing Half came all the way down from Lowell Ma. to play three songs for about ten people. According to them those were the only three songs their new bass player knew. Doesn’t matter, the three songs were fantastic! Keep an eye out for these guys at a show near you!

Zombie Fighter out of Keene, NH is one of  the tightest thrash metal bands we have heard in a long time.  These guys are really fucking good! This is one of those bands that when we heard for the first time we knew it was something special. Formed in 2010, Zombie Fighter is steadily making a name for themselves on the New England metal scene.

All For Blood closed out the night in style, with an awesome set that featured a guest guitarist and with Ray performing a semi solo slow song called ‘Sound of Suicide’.
